MountainsMoving!
Although the last we heard last Friday from the moody Judge was that she didn’t want to see any more cases until the end of the month, we have a miracle on our hands! We just received word that we have a COURT DATE, set for Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Noon! Yippee!! AND it gets even better.....several hours after the excellent news, we heard more from our facilitator. She said, "I was surprised how quickly she granted a court date, she was in a bad mood today!" Wow! The miracle just became even MORE miraculous!!! Cranky Judge + Bad Mood + GOD= early Court date!!!:D
Before we really started our day, I recorded some Reflections:
The Incessant Banging- What on this great earth could cause hammering, non-stop, from 9am-5 pm for weeks on end in the apartment above us? It doesn’t even sound like the hammering of a professional. The hammering of a professional seems as if it would be intentional, focused, quick- BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG- until that nail was in and the job was done. Then they should start another nail, and another and another for perhaps a few days in a row. But this hammering sounds more like a child. Bang…..bang…..bang, bang, bang...bang….bang……..bang bang…….bang. Like a child playing with a hammer! First in one corner of the room, then in another corner, then in another room. You think it stops….then bang, bang……….bang, bang…bang..bang…bang. I can’t count the number of times I have said, “THAT BANGING!!” and wanted to run out screaming!
Oh, wow, as I write, it stopped for the first time in hours. No- it’s back again. It will continue until 5pm when the bangers finally go home for the day. Bizarre. At least it isn’t in the early mornings or evenings. And we are abundantly blessed to be here - so no more complaining about the banging:)
Smiling has been sighted city-wide!
I saw people smiling all over town yesterday! Not a lot, but in nearly every place we went I spotted one smiler! I think the total became 7 smilers for the day!! Not AT us, at all, but toward their friends. I think Operation Spreading Joy may be working!
Our ordinary day and an extraordinary purchase
Today we slept in and caught up on things around the house. We eventually left the house at 4pm to meet Sl. to go to the Opera House to get Ballet tickets!!! The Ballet here is RIDICULOUSLY cheap!!! I bought a block of 10 seats for myself and the kids, and our “Kievian” Circle of Friends for only $25- TOTAL! Each ticket to SWAN LAKE was only $2.50!!!!!! Really?!? Where else in the World can you see a professional Ballet, one that you have heard of for that matter, for only $2.50!? My son, J., who is reluctant to go, is glad that at least one other male will be going with us, the amazing Sv.:)
Pasta Dinner
Sl. , An. and I returned to the house to find Weej making spaghetti sauce, following in his Dad’s footsteps. J We had invited Sl. & Sa., Ir. & K., P & J over for dinner. Sadly, P & J, were unable to join us due to a rough day with their adoption process (unsuccessful trip out of town to retrieve E.s birth certificate). Please pray for the W. Family and that the completion of their adoption process would be smooth and rapid!
Twenty Years
Tomorrow we will celebrate 20 years of Marriage. I must say that since my primary love language is Quality time AND Weej and I have been together non-stop for the past 3 weeks and 2 days (most time together EVER), I am already having a pretty amazing 20th Anniversary celebration! To take this Anniversary to an unprecedented level of wonderful, we are on this amazing adoption adventure together because my husband heard God’s calling and obeyed, even though he didn’t really want to initially. God has changed his heart, and seeing him play with, hug, and encourage our new son has been phenomenal! I truly couldn’t ask for a better Anniversary present! Love grows, matures, mellows yet intensifies and just gets better and better. :-)
Congratulations on 20 yrs and a wonderful new son! When do you expect to be back?
